Before Grade 2 students from Alberta start learning about the three unique communities in Canada, they need to learn about what a community is.
This pack covers all you need to prepare students for what a community is. It then introduces the students to the bigger community - which is Canada. This is a great little unit that you can start before the other 3 units - Adventure to Meteghan, Journey to Iqaluit and Springtime in Saskatoon.
Contents include:
- Defining the word community
- rural and urban communities
- how each community is unique
- defining traditions, and culture
- learning about the provinces and territories that make up Canada
- what makes Canada a special community
Also includes an assessment at the end.
This is a great start to learning about Canada's 3 Dynamic Communities.
