Want to have your students engaged in your word study block? This no prep DIGITAL resource compliments the Words their Way™ program, but can also be used without it? This resource is what you have been looking for. It covers the yellow book - ‘Within Word Patterns’ and all the word sorts which is perfect for distance learning, literacy centers, daily 5 , small group, large group and more.
As more and more classrooms have access to iPads and Chromebooks, doing distance learning or going 1:1 - paper becomes less attractive. I really like the Words their Way™ program, however the one aspect I don’t particularly like is the amount of paper that it consumes. I wanted an alternative to paper without compromising the program.
This digital version of the word sorts is the result. Instructions for teachers are included in a 18 page PDF file for the +140 activities. This includes all the links for all 59 sorts from the Working Within Pattern - yellow book that you will need.
The easiest way to assign the sorts to your groups is within Google Classroom. This makes organization so much easier. You can assign a section of sorts, or just assign the weekly sort. All the students need to do in the activities is to click in the box and type their response or drag a picture and/or word into place.
This also works without Google Classroom. Simply assign via email or do as a group on the interactive whiteboard.

Can be used as part of your Literacy centers, use alongside your Words their Way™ program, use in small groups, or homework, or as extra practice. You can add this resource right into your weekly schedule of activities. Even if you don’t use Words their Way™, you can certainly use this resource for your word work activities in your classroom.
Each sort comprises 2 slides of reinforcement activities. As well, each pattern unit comes with a 2 slide assessment piece. There are over 140 google slides of activities for the sorts and over 100 pages in Seesaw.
