For use with 2nd edition WTW program
 
These weekly home sorts were made with parents and students in mind. I often wanted to send home the weekly word sort with my students, but didn’t think they needed to have the full sheet and cut the words apart again at home. If you like, these weekly sorts can be cut up at home, or simply used as a reference for parents so they know how to help their child when practicing the sorts at home.
 
All 50 sorts are included, along with a ‘helpful hint’ for parents/guardians. It gives specific areas they can help their child at home with the sort. A selection of 14 words from each sort, along with a few extra words are highlighted.
 
Words are not exactly the same as in the Words Their Way™ program. Other words have been chosen to help students scaffold their learning with each sort. This program supplements the Words Their Way™ program, it does not replace it.
 
Contents:
Unit 1: Picture sorts for short and long vowel sounds (Sorts 1-6)
Unit 2: Word sorts contrasting short and long vowel sounds and patterns CVC and CVVC (Sorts 7-12)
Unit 3: Common long vowel patterns CVCe and CVVC (Sorts 13-18)
Unit 4: Less common long vowel patterns (Sorts 19-24)
Unit 5: R-influenced vowel patterns (Sorts 25-30)
Unit 6: Diphthongs and other ambiguous vowel sounds (Sorts 31-35)
Unit 7: Beginning and ending complex consonants and consonant clusters (Sorts 36-42)
Unit 8: High frequency words and contractions (Sorts 43-44)
Unit 9: Inflectional endings for plural and past tense (Sorts 45-46)
Unit 10: Homophones (Sorts 47-50)
 
Also included is an editable home sort if you'd like to make your own.
